Steel is an infusion of chromium into iron and was first made during the early 1900’s. Later, small amounts of carbon were added to produce a very strong and malleable metal. The new stainless steel metals were perfect in the production of surgical steel.
But by the early eighties, this new type of steel is now being transformed into jewelry: rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. However, these pieces of jewelry are not marketed to the women; they are mostly endorsed to the men.
At first, it was surprising that these white pieces of jewelry were targeted to the men but as time passed, these glittering and shining accessories clicked and occupied the hearts of men as their favorite type of accessory.
Through time, stainless steel bracelets, rings, and necklaces have become a part of the tough guy look. It has already been stereotyped in the movies that tough, muscular guys must always wear clothes that are either ripped or open to show off their bulky muscles and have stainless steel accessories hanging from their necks or wrists.
It could probably have something to do with its hard, cold nature, or shiny appearance that seems to entirely reflect the cool and tough façade that men try to emulate. Or maybe it is for the reason that it since it was endorsed primarily for men that they feel that they are the perfectly manly accessory as opposed to the diamond and pearl jewelry that is for the women. Whatever the reason may be, stainless steel accessories are here to stay and will still be associated with tough guys.
